Jack shows his heart is good - he worked the pumpkin patch at the church again this year. It raises money for youth missions. It also doesn't hurt that you get to pull around a wagon and help people pick out the right pumpkins!

So Jack's class celebarted the season of fall, rather than the super religous holiday known as Halloween. We are looking forward to the Winter Festivities.

Jack did not want to pose in his costume, espcially after he and Daddy trick-or-treated with his 3rd and 5th grade friends (they were gone forever). Mommy should have gotten a better shot at the Halloween Party beforehand, but his will have to do. You should still be able to figure out his costume. No comment.

A Season of Sports

Game #2: Flag Football. Jack chose to play this so he could be with his buds. Plus, he really likes to watch/play football with Daddy!

Game #1: Soccer. Jack played goalie for a period. He was glad to have Daddy coaching him! Jack chose this sport because he enjoys it.

Where has the time gone? Jack just turned six, and Mommy has turned totally lazy with the blog. She "hopes" to post pictures and updates soon.

For now, Mommy and Daddy feel very blessed to have Jack. Here's to hoping the next six years don't go by near as fast.

The temps are rising (thankfully), but the calendar still says February. Jack will enjoy the sun while it lasts.

The after picture is posted above the before, but you can get the idea. These pics were taken about two months apart. The boy, dog and couch are the same (couch was just recovered in outdoor fabric because kids and hubby are messy). My how Jack and Honey have grown!!!!

Jack just wrapped up his first basketball season! He was a great defensive player, and very good at passing the ball. However, the trash talk continues...

Day to Day

Life is good for Jack. School is okay, but he loves his soccer league and has made lots of new friends. He lives close to the church, which has become a large part of family life. The only downside: Daddy has been working at his new job a lot. However, Jack rises with Daddy each morning and is smothered in his attention over the weekends. All are making the most of the time we have together!

Mommy means to take note of the funny ways that Jack misinterprets, she just forgets. Anyway, the other day we were discussing languages. He mentioned that people in the U.K. speak the same language as us, just with an "accident." So cute!

So a little time has passed since the last blog, but Jack has been very busy! He moved after Daddy graduated, and took a lot of vacations. Now, he is getting settled in his new house and eagerly awaiting the start of TK. Mommy will post pics when she unpacks the camera's USB cord!

Just so you know, Jack is five years old now! For his check-up he weighed in at 43 pounds and 43 inches!

Over Spring Break, Mommy had a check-up with her docs in Boston. So, she made the boys tag along! I think Jack had a good time, I hope it was decent for Jay:) Here we are at the New England Aquarium.
The trip included a Duck Tour of Boston on the streets and in the Charles River!

Winter has been a little snowy and icy around here - and from the pics it looks as though Jack enjoyed it.
However, he ventured outdoors twice during the wintry weather, and lasted ten minutes each time. Thank goodness we are in the south and this does not happen often!
Anyway, all of us enjoyed time off from school!

This year we spent Thanksgiving at Bibi and Da's house. Jack had a blast beading necklaces...
feeding the ducks and eating ice cream at Annie's...
watching "The Fantastic Mr. Fox," then playing video games in the arcade afterwards...

and hosting a tea party! The tea was delicious and the company was wonderful!

Football Fan and Party Man

Today, we went to a birthday party for one of Jack's classmates. He is proving that he is the loudest and liveliest at every party we attend!
On Saturday, we went to another UNC football game. This time they played Puke and won! Jack's favorite part of the game was the blue ice cream - can't say I blame him.

It was an exciting Halloween Day, and it ended with lots of treats collected by Jack. Before he left the house, with bucket in hand, he had convinced Daddy that he needed to dress up also. Daddy was a soccer player, and Jack was a red power ranger, of course!
Before the evening's festivities, we went to a pumpkin patch with a group of families from Daddy's school. The hayride was a little long, but enjoyable if you had a lap to sit on!

Jack did not want to pose for any pictures, but we kept reminding him of the good things to come. (Notice the cowboy boots, Bibi? They are a big hit! Jack doesn't like to leave home without them!)

Hodgepodge

As Mommy sits down to blog tonight, she is exhausted. Work is just the pits this year, and it cannot end soon enough. But, as she posts these shots, she can't help but feel blessed. Jack is just amazing, and his Daddy is amazing to boot.

Last Friday, both the boys had off from school. So, Daddy planned a fun-filled day for Jack. It included Donuts, Chick-fil-a, and a trip to the airport runway where they got to see the planes land and take-off!
Mommy feels a little guilty including these next two pics - she debated about unveiling Jack's Halloween costume just days before the holiday. But, on Saturday there were a couple of activities that Jack attended where he could dress up. So, you get to see him as a Power Ranger early.
Look for more photos after Trick-or-Treating!
Last Wednesday, we visited the fair as a family. The food was quite filling, and Jack thought the games were fun.
However, the lines for the rides were extremely long. We waited for four! Thank goodness it only comes once a year...

Weekend Away

Jack went to see Mimi and Papa a week ago. He got a couple special trips within the trip: 1. He rode go-carts with Papa and Uncle Will, and his cousin, Garrett, and Uncle John came, too!
2. Jack got to go to his first car show! To any motor enthusiasts that may read this blog (besides Papa), it was the Morgan's 100th Birthday. So, there were lots of Morgans on-site.
There were also other types of cars at the show. Mommy is not sure who enjoyed it more - Jack or Papa.

The show was in Aunt Hayley's neck of the woods, so we also got to see her for lunch! Fabulous!
These pictures were taken at our house. We were just goofing off, eating popsicles and playing with the camera. It is a rare moment when Jack wants to pose!

We're Back!

Long story short: Mommy had to get a new camera. So, the prince himself is back in pictures. Didn't you miss him? On Saturday, one of his special treats was meeting a few Star Wars characters at the mall.
Of course, the cutest pics were taken of him outside the store while we waited to meet the characters.
At his four year check up he was 42 inches and 39 pounds of adorableness.
On Saturday night, Jack got his other special treat. Daddy took him to a Tar Heels football game!

Back to School 09

Would you believe the camera would not charge again? So, Jack's first day back to school (in his customary striped polo shirt) is but a memory. Maybe we will get a pic this week. Anyway, it must be noted that Jack did a fantastic job upon returning to his class. Of course, it helps that he has the same teachers, in the same class, with most of the same students (love Montessori method). But regardless, he fell right into his old routine without a hitch. He wakes, eats breakfast, and heads to school (all done by Daddy! Thank you, Jay, for making all of our mornings stress-free.) He loves to tell us about his number works, and his games on the playground. We can't wait to see what is in store for the rest of the year!

Summer Vacation Has Come to an End

We took one last trip to visit Daddy in NYC this summer, and wouldn't you know this is the only picture Mommy has to show for it?! The battery in her camera died just as they climbed the top of the Rockefeller Center to get a panoramic view of the city. Mommy hates to mention that the day after her camera died, Jack also went to Battery Park and took the ferry over to the Statue of Liberty! Oh the agony...memories will just have to serve.
To complete the summer, Jack also took a trip to the beach with Bibi, Da, and Aunt Hayley. Daddy flew in for a couple nights and we got to celebrate his 30th Birthday!! Can you believe Daddy is 30? We are still in shock!
Jack enjoyed his days in the surf and sand. Da was a good sport to take Jack out!
The tidal pools also served as great entertainment!
Jack really enjoyed the pool, and got Bibi to take a dip. They both had a fantastic time!

There are more memories to share, and they are simply great memories (the camera failed Mommy at really important moments): to finish off the summer Jack went bowling (but didn't like it because Mommy won); went to Morehead Planetarium; and rode go-carts with Papa! It was a bittersweet time for Jack over these last few months; Daddy was interning in NYC but we got the amazing opportunity to visit him in such an awesome city! So when Jack heads back to school tomorrow, he can tell his buds about the many trips he has been on and the great memories he has made!

Been Meaning To...

This is a quick post, without pictures (photos will be posted at a later date). Just wanted you to know that Jack is enjoying the end of his summer vacation and the return of Daddy!

He is demanding at times, but he is always cute! The things he says are often cute, too. Just the other day he cut the grass with his "lawnmower" from Krissy. When he was finished he asked Mommy to pay him. Her reply, "I'm out of cash, Jack." He quickly said, "That's okay, Mom. I take cards."

Idaho doesn't just grow potatoes

It is also home to great bands! We stopped in a little town called Sandpoint to attend the wedding of Kirsten and Mac. A great time was had by all...

Jack made sure to cut a rug with any willing participants! Thanks to Bibi and Aunt Hayley for making this possible!

The best part - Daddy flew in for the big event. We were so glad to see him!

Vancouver, Eh?

We visited two different cities on this trip with Bibi, Da, and Aunt Hayley. Mommy will start with Vancouver, because we went their first (isn't she clever?)

It was a really nice place to see, it definitely won Jack's approval! One day we took a ferry boat.

On that same day, we also went to the Macmillan Space Centre. It was fascinating!

Who knew Canadians had such an impact on space travel?

We took a tour of the city on another open-top bus, the stops and sights were fun!

One day, we went to the Vancouver Aquarium. The beluga whales were really neat! So, was the balloon maker outside:)

Overall, we really liked this city - would definitely recommend a visit!

The Fourth for a Four Year Old

Jack turned four on Monday, and it was a memorable way to turn four near the fourth of July!

We spent Saturday night watching the fireworks from atop Jay's apartment in NYC!

The view was amazing - and we all remarked that this was a Fourth of July to remember!

The rest of our weekend was pretty exciting, too! We took a bus tour, visited the Central Park Zoo and sampled a wide array of restaurants (some good and some not so good).

Only and Lonely?

So, Mommy was updating the blog tonight. Not only did Jack turn 4 on Monday, but all the bloggers that we follow have siblings. So, while Jack remains an only child, the rest of the world keeps on growing!

Well, maybe the whole world isn't growing. And Mommy is very happy for all the boys, girls, brothers and sisters out there.

However, Jack will continue to be the center of her universe!

Mommy Memories

I am taking the time to write at my own free will. Read if you want, or just check back later for pictures of the handsome prince himself!

The great debate will continue, and I will continue to ignore the pros and cons of both sides. I am talking about the "stay-at-home moms" vs. the "working moms." Because, who is really to say which is right or wrong? And by definition, I have stayed at home and I was always working. As my husband liked to say, I just wasn't getting paid.

Now, I am working in the home and out of the home. My career has afforded me the summer off with my son. So, I wanted to take this rare time to record my thoughts and realizations. I enrolled Jack in a brief summer camp (just this week, a few hours a day). I dropped him off this morning, and his excitement could hardly be contained. But he took a moment to hug me good-bye and blow me a kiss.

That may be a typical scene for most moms, however, it almost brought tears to my lubricated eyes. I saw the enthusiasm Jack had for the day's activities. I also saw the love he had for me as he kept saying, "Bye, Mom!" Whether I am always at home with him, or not, we will always love each other. Later, he might not admit it. And blowing me kisses will be in the past.

Beach

Jack went to Mimi and Papa's place at the beach. He got to play miniature golf...

but the sand and surf were the best part!

Mimi took him out in the water, and he giggled and smiled the entire time!

He took a break to build a really cool sand castle, complete with a moat and drawbridge.

Lucky for Jack, there are some return trips in the future!

New York City, New York

We went to visit Daddy for his summer job, and he took us around the fabulous city. Jack's faves were FAO Schwartz, Toys R' Us, and M & M's World. The Museum of Natural History wasn't half bad either.

We are going back again, soon. We are extremely proud of Daddy for his achievements, but we miss him! So look for more pictures of NYC, Daddy and Jack!

On Wednesday, Jack took his very first field trip! His class went to a farm, and Jack's Daddy was a chaperone (he took some wonderful pictures)! Jack was super excited, he got to ride the school bus there and bring his lunch. But he had no idea that he would get to ride a horse! It was an unforgettable field trip!

So, hopefully the pictures can be posted later (Mommy isn't as computer savvy as she thinks). But, anyway, Jack went to the beach with Mimi and Papa over his spring break. His vacation was wonderful, and there were definitely some highlights: a ferry ride over to see the N.C. aquarium, a new library, and puzzle lessons galore.

When Mommy took him to school this morning, he was happy to be reunited with his friends again. And the first words out of his mouth, to his best gal pal: "I got to ride a ferry boat!"

While visiting Mimi and Papa, Jack got to see Julianna again (perfectly posed for the camera) and meet Ansley Claire (he has since referred to her as the "cute baby"). Stephanie has the sweetest girls, and we are glad we got to catch up with Jessica, too!

Love is in the air

There are no pictures to post, but lots to tell. Jack has been sick with a cold, and it kept him on the DL for 24 hours or so. Now, he is all better!

On Saturday he went to Krispy Kreme to watch Uncle T-Bird run in the Krispy Kreme Challenge! It was a fantastic day on may counts: he got to consume one of his favorite foods (doughnuts if you weren't aware), he was there to support his partner on the b-ball court (Tom), and then his Aunt Lindsey took him to Marbles! So the weekend could not get any better, right?

Wrong! On Sunday, Jack attended a birthday party for one of his good friends from school. The weather was oddly beautiful for February, so he and his buddies alternated between running outside and in. There were chocolate cupcakes, and presents for the birthday boy (which Jack "accidentally" helped him to open).

Now, our household is gearing up for Valentine's Day. Jack will be getting a few treats, we just hope he isn't disappointed when he doesn't receive the Transformer set he's been requesting (don't get any ideas Aunts or grandmas).

Christmas at Mimi and Papa's

Jack's Holidays began with a visit to exchange presents with his cousins. He was a big fan of Garrett's robots - he had them pushing each other over.

Back at Mimi and Papa's house, there were lots of delicious treats. Here, Jack is even helping Papa make an appetizer - "Pigs in a Blanket." Jack liked the pigs the bestJack loved his presents from Mimi and Papa - now he has his own horse stables!

We had a wonderful time while there, but we had to head home so Santa would be sure to deliver Jack's presents...

Breakfast with Santa

We had Breakfast with Santa again this year at Mimi and Papa's clubhouse. Jack was a lot less fearful of the "Big Guy" this year, and he even told him what he specifically wants for Christmas!

Jack's cousins were there again, too.

Disney on Ice

This is a little late, but you can get the idea. Mommy and Daddy took Jack to see Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy.

It had the characters from Cars in the advertisement, so we figured they would be a part of the show. However, they were a very small part. Most of the evening was filled with Tinkerbell and The Little Mermaid.

Jack liked the performance a little, he just kept asking when it would be over. The princesses and fairies were just not that interesting.

Jack is growing so fast, it is really amazing. Mommy won't bore you with details from the last month, she will just give a brief synopsis: Daddy has been a huge help (as always), Bibi and Da came to stay with Jack while Mommy was away for surgery, and Jack has gotten a healthy dose of family while Mommy has recovered (Mimi and Papa came to visit, and Aunt Lindsey has "taken" him a bunch).

Anyway, Mommy has been bad not to take pics, so the one above is from Aunt Lindsey (she saved us by getting him a second car seat, and it appears he likes it.) This holiday season, the camera will go everywhere with us!

So, here's for the quote of the month, which was said at Mommy's work this week when Jack was taken to "Family Night:"
The teachers loved meeting Jack, and many asked his age. He shyly replied, "Three."
But, when one teacher asked if he went to preschool, he proudly responded, "No! My go to Montessori School!"

This year, Jack was not certain what he wanted to be for Halloween. So, Aunt Lindsey took the guess work out of the equation - she got a race car driver costume for him. However, he wasn't just any race car driver, Jack was Lightening McQueen's driver. And he certainly flew through the neighborhood getting lots of treats!

A Visit to Fairy Godmother

Jack went with Mommy and Aunt Lindsey down to Atlanta to visit Krissy. Krissy is Jack's Godmother, and one time, he called her his "Fairy Godmother." So, Mommy thinks the special name should stick!
Anyway, Jack had a great time - opening gifts from Atlanta, visiting the zoo,
and riding on the airplane!
We wished we could have made our visit a longer one. This time, the zoo was the main part of our trip. There was so much to see, from animals, to playgrounds, displays, and rides.
There was even a train to take us around for a little tour of what we were to see. It was a fantastic time. Thanks, Krissy and Happy Birthday!

A week ago, Jack dubbed the day "Do What You Want Day." He was off from school and Mommy had not started work yet. So, Jack made our schedule. First, we went to the local children's museum.
Jack always enjoys playing and pretending there. But after a while, he got pretty hungry.

Mommy suggested going home to eat lunch. However, Jack thought lunch at a restaurant was more appropriate for "Do What You Want Day." How could Mommy argue with such a thoughtful little guy?

The rest of the day was nice, but when Jack woke up he went to visit Bibi and Da. Da took Jack to an indoor water park! Jack said it was "awesome." Then he got to visit his cousins. As if life wasn't exciting enough, Daddy took him to Krispy Kreme the following morning. Maybe it should have been called "Jack Does What He Wants Weekend!"

Dog House

Real pets have been banned from our household right now (and probably until the year of 2010). We simply can't care for them, as we can barely care for ourselves. Anyway, Jack likes to pretend his animals are pets. He has a whole zoo of stuffed pals that he sleeps with each night. But the dogs pictured above are the ones that he likes to have almost everywhere he goes.
This weekend he fed them and gave them water. They were very hungry and very thirsty, as this was the first time ever that they had received food and drink.

In other news, Jack has a full life. He got to go to school, have lots of "Daddy-Boy Breakfasts," and Bibi came to visit and take him to a Butterfly "Tent" (Museum of Life and Sciences to the lay people.)

1. Jack loves school, but he still dislikes "Quiet Time."
2. Jack went to his cousin Mallory's birthday party on Saturday. It was at a park, there was cake, and other cousins were there, too. He had great fun, of course!
3. Mama finally got a job, so Jack's Pez collection can keep on growing.
4. Jack had a fast, but wonderful, visit with Mimi, Papa and Aunt Lindsey. He even got to meet Uncle Will's girlfriend!

Jack's First Football Game!

Mommy forgot her camera, but let her just tell you: Jack had the time of his life last night! His Daddy, and Mommy, took him to see Carolina vs. McNeese State. Jack's face lit up as he took in the sights: players on the field, the band, the cheerleaders and the mascot. He cheered, clapped, and ate lots of treats. Then, the game was temporarily delayed for rain. By about 8:30 pm or so, we decided to go home.

So, Jack's first introduction to live football wasn't very long, but it was very exciting. He cannot wait to go back!

Jack has grown so much. When he first started school, he hadn't even started walking. This year, as he started school he walked into the classroom all on his own. And in the picture above, he is stating to one of his teachers, as she offered to put away his raincoat, "My am a big boy, so my can do it all by myself."

He is really enjoying his new friends and teachers (he even named a stuffed animal after his favorite, Miss Kathy.) The playground has been the highlight of his days. The only bad part: "Quiet Time." It only lasts an hour or so, but Jack has never been fond of being quiet. The first report from the head teacher was a good one, and the kind we hope to receive in years to come: "Jack is very smart. He is interested in everything."

First Dental Visit

Jack went to the dentist for the first time last week. He did a fabulous job and he was cavity free!

Today, he went for his three year check-up. It was a new doctor, and we really miss his old one, but he seemed to like her. And his stats matched: 38 pounds and inches!

We love our healthy boy!

Sorry there are no pictures to share. Mommy got her camera back, but wouldn't y0u know the battery wasn't charged?

Anyway, here is a quick rundown of Jack's life:
- he has been to the pool a lot;
- he celebrated Uncle T-bird's birthday with hot dogs and fun;
- his "Fairy Godmother," Krissy, came to visit, which we loved;
- and he went to the beach with Mama Jane and company!

The battery is currently charging and maybe there will be pictures of the party at Daddy's school tonight.

R. I. P. Nemo

Just to let you know, Jack's pet fish has passed away. Nemo was a real trooper, and endured a stressful move to his new home. We thought he was going to be fine here, but the stress of it all must have gotten to him.

Jack still has no idea that Nemo is no longer with us, and we are grateful for that. However, at some point he is going to ask. What do we say? Too early to give a lesson on death?

Lost, but not forgotten

Mommy's camera is missing, so she cannot share pictures with you of Jack's trip to the zoo, his stay at Mimi and Papa's, and his visit to the kid's museum in our new town.

Mommy also wanted to take pictures of Stephanie's belly at her shower, but she wasn't able to. You will just have to wait and see pictures of her new baby when she arrives in August!

Meanwhile, Jack has been exploring his new hood, and relaxing by the pool. He's still working on LISTENING to Mommy and Daddy. His cuteness and smartness get him out of trouble most of the time.

Jack had a great birthday party at his new house. There were plenty of presents to open, and a yummy cake to taste (Thomas was great, Linds). Jack also had wonderful guests in attendance. We were all glad to thank God for his third year of life!

Today, Jack turns 3 years old! It is hard for Mommy and Daddy to believe that our little man is growing up - he can do so much by himself, but luckily he still wants us by his side most of the time:)

Last night, we went out for a special birthday dinner at a fun diner. Jack liked his food so much that he ate it all (minor point: it was french toast smothered in powdered sugar and cinnamon, while swimming in a sea of syrup)!

to a new house, in a new town. Jack is adjusting quite well, but he pointed out that he misses his friends and his fishy (his pet, Nemo, is still back at the old house - and do not worry, Mimi and Papa are keeping a watchful eye over him and his tank). Anyway, we won't focus on the negative - there are lots of positives to our move: we are within walking distance to a park, a pool, and a grocery store (which came in handy when Jack had a craving for popcorn yesterday).

Perhaps the biggest positve of all? Having Daddy home, all the time. This has been a wonderful time in our lives. It hasn't mattered at all where we are, just that we are together.

Jack is REALLY enjoying having Daddy at home all the time now (Jay's last day of work was over a week ago)! Last week, they played with Jack's new baseball bat (thanks, Aunt Lindsey)!
Jack has a great arm (he was throwing to Mommy).
And when he makes contact with the ball, well ... you better watch out!
He also stopped by the library last week, and got there just as a train was going by. We are going to miss our little downtown area!

Jack's Birthday for Friends

These pics are a little out of order, but no matter which one you look at, you'll see Jack is having the time of his life! This Sunday, we threw an early birthday party for him at Gymboree, so that he could celebrate with his friends before our move (in case you weren't aware we are leaving for C. H. at the end of the month).
Jack really turns three in July. However, he didn't know any different on Sunday! He was the center of attention, and he gobbled it up! Here, he and Blythe are letting go of some energy.

Jack and Mommy met Sam and Leslie at Freedom Park on Thursday!
The boys had so much fun rolling in the grass,
running around trees,

picking flowers, then giving the flowers to their Mommies (what gentlemen),
and just looking cute!
After our morning at the park, we went out for a much needed lunch break (it has been a long week, and two words explain why: potty training.) Anyway, you'll notice Jack is slurping down some ice cream, it was a reward for a good job!

Last Friday, Jack went to the Swearing In Ceremony for his Aunt Lindsey. He went to a courthouse, met a judge, and enjoyed sitting in the pews. Then, we went out to dinner to celebrate Aunt Lindsey's accomplishment. For dessert, there was chocolate cake. Jack said, "This is the best chocolate cake!"

Ooopsy Daisy

Forgive Mommy, she is putting all her pictures from the week in one blog. She has been a little busy, but of course, Jack has been busier.
Today, we met a school friend, Arlen, at a new park. The park is like five minutes from our house, and we'd never heard of it! Now we know where it is, and our house is on the market:(
Anyway, the boys had a good time and the weather was great!
We took a nature walk and saw Mommy's favorite animal - a turtle!
On Saturday, we attended the first birthday of Hayden, son of Michelle (Mommy's friend from high school). Jack enjoyed playing with the kids, eating the yummy food, and "helping" Hayden open presents.
On Tuesday, we went to the big city to have lunch with Daddy! He showed us around his office, and even introduced Jack to Bloomberg on the computer.

To the Zoo

On the weekend of April 12, Jack was a ring bearer in Cristen and Ben's wedding. The rehearsal, wedding ceremony, and reception were all wonderful - and so was Jack! He did a superb job, which was very promising since he'll be doing it again twice in May!

Turks and Caicos

We just got back from a vacation to Turks and Caicos, thanks to Bibi and Da! It was beautiful!

But, back to reality! Our house is on the market, we are going to visit preschools in the Chapel Hill area this week, and Jack is going to be in his first wedding this weekend!

Sir Jack of Willow Brook

It has been brought to Mommy's attention that boys will be boys, and create weapons out of almost anything (one story she's heard from Bibi involves Daddy and a piece of toast). So, she wasn't really that surprised when Jack wanted to put on his tool belt this morning and stick the remote in it (he was pretending to be a knight and the remote was his sword). He got a castle set for Christmas and it has encouraged his imagination!

Later, he was of a more peaceful nature and made Easter cookies with Mommy. They were in the shapes of bunnies, flowers, eggs, and crosses. Jack approved of their taste!

Humpty Dumpty

Mommy just wants to jot down some things that she's noticed throughout the day:

- This isn't new, Jack loves books. He could listen to them all day, and he can read them to himself. Examples of ones he reads, "I Stink!" and "Blankie." At night, Mommy and Daddy have to read their "favorites" to him (Mommy's is "Dewdrops," a book about flowers; Daddy likes "Smash! Crash!" It involves cars and trucks, and the title is self-explanatory).

- Jack is very good at making things up, or adding on. We never even knew that he had learned "Humpty Dumpty," but today in the car he was telling his own version: "Humpty Dumpty is a egg. He fell down, broke his crown. And everyone was sad." Or if he doesn't know the rest of the words to a song, he can always hum, "La, La, La." His favorite song goes like this: "Be our guest, put magic to the test. La, La, La."

- Jack is incredibly sweet. He tells us over and over that we are his "favorite mommy and daddy in the whole wide world." He is our favorite boy in the whole wide world!

All Boy

In other news, Jack has been busy this week. From swim lessons, making pizzas with Great Grandma, school, and Bible Study, it's a wonder he's had time to play outside. No worries, though, he has not passed up the fabulous weather!

Jack was able to ride lots of rides, including his first roller coaster! Some were better than others - he loved the Mad Tea Cups at Magic Kingdom. Overall, our family had a fantastic time and cannot wait to go back! Now that we are home, we are getting lots of rest!

On Tuesday, we met Sam and Leslie at the Nature Museum. The boys are truly at a perfect age to enjoy all the place had to offer. Here's Jack at the water table...

First Swim Lesson!

Jack was just amazing for his first swim lesson! He practiced his kicking, blowing bubbles, and a few strokes (like the tiger paw).

It was a private lesson, and the teacher said Jack was "excellent." When she asked him if he was ready to end the lesson, he said "No!" She ended it after a while, because she said she didn't want to wear him out on his first day! We knew he loved the water, and we are thrilled for him to use up some of his energy.

On Monday, Mimi was taking Jack out to lunch. Mommy said, "Let's put a coat on." Jack spotted his froggy rain jacket in the closet and wanted to wear it (thanks, Krissy). Before he walked out of the house, he even asked for his "frog eyes" to be put on. Mimi said, "But it's not raining, Jack. Are you sure?" He replied, "Yes, and I need my breya (matching frog umbrella)."

Guess Jack knew the weather forecast better than we did, because it started to rain as we stepped outside!

Jack's Funnies

He talks a lot, and some things come out quite funny:

1. "Mommy, you have polka spots all over your face." Can't remember what Mommy really had on her face.

2. After school today, Jack asked for some chocolate that Grandma gave him (she's learned of his favorite treat, and always has some for him.) Mommy told him yes, and he replied, "That chocolate be so delicious."

3. "Go away (fill in the blank.)" If only it were that easy.

4. "Daddy, you forgot to chase me." Jack tells Daddy this when he's just walked in the door from work. It's so cute no one has wanted to correct him. He'll learn the meaning of "forgot" sooner or later.
